How the wire-up works

Three things to know: the protocol, the credential, and what the alert payload looks like. The setup is the same on free and Pro.

Protocol
smtp-email
Credential
SMTP host + port + (optional) username + password. Per-organisation; stored encrypted. Or use the platform's NOTIFICATION_EMAIL_FROM default and target any address.
Payload
HTML body with the standard base template (header, monitor name, status, error or recovery message, latency, link) plus a plain-text fallback for clients that disable HTML.

The grid below describes what the channel itself supports once wired up. All channels are available on the free plan unless the badge says otherwise.
